Probabilistically Shaped 4-PAM for Short-Reach IM/DD Links With a Peak Power Constraint

چکیده

Probabilistic shaping for intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) links is discussed a peak power constraint determined by the limited extinction ratio (ER) of optical modulators introduced. The input distribution 4-ary unipolar pulse amplitude (PAM) symbols optimized short-reach transmission without amplification nor in-line dispersion compensation. resulting symmetric around its mean allowing to use probabilistic (PAS) generate that are protected forward error correction (FEC) have optimal distribution. numerical analysis confirmed experimentally both an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel fiber channel, showing gains in reach rate, as well rate adaptability.
